Sirmione and Lake Garda are increasingly connected by local public transport
The institutional visit to Sirmione of the regional councilors Lucente and Mazzali to present the project
The institutional visit between the Mayor of Sirmione Luisa Lavelli and the regional councilors Franco Lucente (Transport and Sustainable Mobility) and Barbara Mazzali (Tourism, Territorial Marketing and Fashion) was held in Sirmione on Monday 22 July.
The occasion of the visit was the presentation to the public of the integrated rail-road public transport system currently in service in the areas of greatest tourist development. The visit to Sirmione, preceded by meetings with the mayors of Desenzano and Salò, entered into the specifics of the Cambiabus service.
Thus Franco Lucente:
“The Lombardy Region is committed to creating an increasingly intermodal and connected public transport system, where iron, road and water are integrated to provide an optimal service to travellers. A sustainable and functional mobility project that must involve the territories, stakeholders, local communities and transport agencies to identify common intervention strategies”.
“Projects that favor a marked diversification of territorial mobility – adds Lucente -. Our commitment is to support modern and efficient transport, essential in places with a high tourist value such as Garda. In this sense, the Lombardy Region will guarantee the Brescia TPL Agency 71.5 million euros in 2024 to offer punctual and cutting-edge services. […] Strengthening the transport system in an area with a high tourist vocation such as the lower western Garda – he said – means improving both the tourist service and the liveability of the local community. Sirmione, Desenzano and Salò are places much loved by visitors, especially foreigners. Tourism does not only mean enhancing historical-naturalistic beauties, tourism must also be efficiency and good organization, requirements of every good trip”.
