Sirmione among the province’s leading libraries: a vibrant cultural hub deeply rooted in the local community
The Giornale di Brescia reports on it (article in Italian only)

Within this outstanding landscape, the Sirmione Public Library stands out in particular. According to data for 2025 published by the Giornale di Brescia, Sirmione ranks among the leading municipalities in the province in terms of active library users, with 1,647 users and an index of 195 users per 1,000 residents, equivalent to 19.5%—well above both the national and provincial averages.
This achievement is all the more remarkable considering that Sirmione has a population of approximately 8,000, outperforming much larger municipalities in the province in terms of cultural participation. It is further confirmation of the strong bond between the local community and its library.
Lisa Vettori, Director of the Sirmione Public Library, expressed her satisfaction with these results:
“These figures show that a library is much more than a place to borrow books: it is a vibrant cultural hub. Today, librarians do far more than manage a collection; they play a key role in developing high-quality cultural initiatives, creating value in a diverse, multidisciplinary environment while fostering a welcoming atmosphere and promoting intercultural and intergenerational dialogue.”
