SIGNS: Winners and participants of the Sirmione 10% Photo Marathon

The photographs in competition and the four images that complete the "WOUND | FERITA" exhibition at Palazzo Callas Exhibitions

On Sunday, July 19th, at 7:00 a.m., 49 photographers gathered in Piazza Carducci to participate in the Sirmione 10% Photo Marathon.

At 7:30 a.m., the theme was announced:

SIGNS
“The wounds in the WOUND | FERITA exhibition are a particular type of sign.
The challenge of the Sirmione 10% Photo Marathon is to hunt for traces. In 60 minutes.
They are everywhere: they can be left by time, nature, or man.
Some are evident, others almost invisible, but they all tell the story of what happened.”

The theme is a continuation of WOUND | FERITA, the Sirmione Photography Award exhibition hosted at Palazzo Callas Exhibitions, which invites visitors to question the relationship between humanity and the environment. This dialogue between photography and social communication continues in Sirmione, alongside other environmental protection activities.

During the sixty minutes allotted, the photographers traversed Sirmione in search of traces and details capable of transforming a simple clue into a visual story, narrating the territory through shots that do not simply describe reality, but invite interpretation.

49 photographs were presented.

Photographs by Simone Zuin, Mirko Bussola, Meri Gandolfini, and Pascal Sega were chosen to complement the exhibition WOUND | FERITA, open at Palazzo Callas Exhibitions until November 8, 2026.

A reading in four images

The jury’s choice was guided not only by the quality of the individual shots, but also by their ability to construct a unified narrative around the theme of SIGNS. Viewed in sequence, the four photographs tell a story of evolution: from a simple shadow, a barely perceptible presence, to a footprint testifying to a passage; then to a material, physical, and concrete sign; until the final image, where the sign is gradually reabsorbed by the environment and nature once again prevails.
