Santa Giulia Museum
The “City Museum” is located in a 14,000 square metre female monastery complex dedicated to Santa Giulia (Saint Julia) which, according to belief was founded by the last Lombard king Desiderius and his wife Ansa in 753 A.D., and into which the older monastery of San Salvatore has been incorporated.
Today the Santa Giulia Museum displays the collections and artefacts of Brescia from prehistoric times to more recent eras, in particular the Celtic, Roman and Longobard periods, in an itinerary which tells the story of Brescia’s history.
