Monument to the Fallen of the Sea
Viale Guglielmo Marconi, 8
The Monument to the Fallen of the Sea was built in 1971 on a project by the architect Maurizio Betta of Desenzano. The work consists of two large basins with an anchor in the centre. During the inauguration ceremony, sea water from the four maritime republics was poured into the fountain: Amalfi, Pisa, Genoa and Venice. The ceremony concluded with the placing of a wreath from the time on the lake bed, in memory of all the fallen sailors.
