The writing affair
At the English Café the pleasure of being together meets the joy of reading... and of writing too!
Our Book Club English features not only eager readers, but also remarcable writers! Last Thursday at the meeting of the English Cafè that took place at Cascina Maddalena, we discovered that the mysterious author of the book The Italian Affair is a member of the club: our dearest Ann Davies!
The book was very appreciated by the readers and received a very respectable score of 4.2 points out of 5. The text features a beautiful story and the author was very original in choosing, as first-person narrator, the navigator of the car of the family protagonist of the book.
Given the success, the participants wanted to award Ann the prestigious “Bookend literary Award” as shown in the picture. It was truly a pleasure to stay together discussing the book and enjoing a pleasant aperitif by the Cascina Maddalena vinery.
Don’t miss our next appointment with the Sirmione Book Club English on November 10th at the Public Library to discuss the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
Our English reading group features monthly encounters, organized as follows:
- The Sirmione Book Club English, on uneven months in the Municipal Library, with books proposed by the coordinator Rosemary Williamson.
- The English Cafè, on even months, where to more freely talk about books we’d like to read, share, propose. The English Cafè, as the name suggests, will not take place in the Public Library, but in a more informal venue, namely a pub, bar or vinery in Sirmione. The designated place will be announced each time.
Our Public Library features also a Book Club for Italian speakers and a Book Club for Kids, discover all the appointments of the Sirmione Book Club!
