Scaligero Castle: 30 special openings in 2026
A special agreement to expand access to Sirmione's landmark for residents and tourists
The Municipality of Sirmione, in collaboration with the Direzione regionale Musei Lombardia and the Sirmione Hotel and Restaurateur Consortium (CARS), has developed a major enhancement program for the Scaligero Castle. Thanks to this sponsorship agreement, valid until December 31, 2026, 30 special opening hours will be available, allowing visitors to visit the fortress at times and on days usually closed.
The initiative aims to make the Castle even more accessible to the local community and visitors, offering new opportunities to discover one of Lake Garda’s most iconic monuments through holiday afternoon openings and charming evening openings.
Opening Hours and Schedule
Holiday Afternoon Openings (1:30 PM – 7:30 PM)
Mainly Sundays and national holidays
- June: 2 (Republic Day), 7, 14, 21, 28
- July: 5, 12, 19, 26
- August: 2, 9, 15 (Ferragosto), 16, 23, 30
- September: 6, 13, 20, 27
- October: 4, 11, 18, 25
- November: 1
Special Evening Openings (7:30 PM – 11:30 PM)
- July: 12, 13, and 16 (in conjunction with the Garda Lake Music Festival)
Openings for Cultural Events
- June 19: Evening opening from 7:15 PM to 11:15 PM for the “Magnificat” show
Some of the special openings listed above coincide with days when admission is free for everyone:
- Every first Sunday of the month (June 7, July 5, August 2, September 6, October 4, December 6)
- June 2nd
- April 25, June 2, November 4, and November 1 are also free, although not all of them include special afternoon openings.
