Giorgio Peres is the final winner of the Block Notes Photo Contest 2026
With his images of the four elements, he won a stay in Sirmione. A Special Mention from the Jury to Ralph Milewski
Giorgio Peres, from Verona, is the Final Winner of the Block Notes Photo Contest 2026!
The four-week competition this year invited participants to explore nature through its fundamental forces: energy, transformation, balance: EARTH, WATER, AIR, FIRE.
Four themes open to the freest and most creative interpretation: the subject could be understood in a physical, symbolic, emotional, sentimental, or even metaphorical sense.
As usual, the Jury selected a winner for each week, rewarding the interpretation of each theme. However, only those who participated in all four weeks were eligible to compete for the Final Prize.
Among the 74 photographic stories in competition, Giorgio Peres‘s convinced the Jury of the Sirmione Award for the Photography who named him Final Winner of the Block Notes Photo Contest 2026 and, for this edition, the jurors decided to award a Special Mention to Ralph Milewski (Fladungen – Bavaria)
The jury commented on Giorgio Peres’s photographic narrative as follows:
“The four natural elements are real and concrete forces, the vital spark of everything, and they also have a counterpart within us.
Human companions—and explored since antiquity—they are “moved” by the author and concentrated into delicate messages.
Brushstrokes of more or less intense light shape the landscapes, while man—always searching for the meaning of life—steps aside in this case.
Time expands, the elements speak, sometimes intersecting with each other.
It is this indefiniteness that determines the power of this work: everything is reduced to the ultimate synthesis, there are no boundaries for the time of the images, there is no disturbance. We miss you, nature so placidly powerful ”
