Sirmione is preparing to host a major sporting event: the Italian Absolute VIP 7.50 Fixed-Seat Rowing Championships will take place on September 26 and 27, 2026, at the Lido Galeazzi.

The event will bring some of the discipline’s most competitive crews to Sirmione, hailing from historic cities such as Venice, Taranto, and Pisa, as well as from various clubs from across Italy. The number of participants is growing, and new clubs are joining the competition, making the event even more interesting.

The competition will involve various age groups, from 11 years old to adults, offering space for both young athletes and more experienced rowers. The boats used are made of aluminum, and the crews vary depending on the specialty. In the “Venetian” rowing style, two rowers are required, while in the “Varesana” rowing style, the crew consists of a single rower.

Representing Sirmione will be the Gruppo Bisse Sirmione, an organization that perpetuates a sporting tradition deeply rooted in the history and culture of the area. The group’s participation takes on a meaning that goes beyond mere competitive results to express the desire to keep alive an ancient and important local tradition.

The event is organized in collaboration with the Sirmione Pro Loco, the Municipality of Sirmione, and the Italian Fixed Seat Rowing Federation.
