Stories of a creative journey

From the workshop to the final works: materials, ideas, and constructions tell the creative journey of the "The Movement of Stories" workshop

What happens when you engage a group of young artists in a fascinating challenge with stone, wood, thread, and paper? Stories are born that take shape and come into motion. With Il movimento delle storie  (The Movement of Stories), the walls of the Public Library were filled with balance, imagination, and sculptures as light as thoughts.

Thus, a workshop was born, guiding participants on a creative journey, where even the simplest materials learned to dance in the air.

Inspired by Alexander Calder’s mobile sculptures, the workshop proposed an original approach to art: combining balance, light forms, and visual storytelling to create narrative sculptures, suspended between fantasy and technique.

The photo gallery accompanying this news item illustrates the various phases of the work, conveying the sense of a journey of discovery, experimentation, and collaboration.

  • Materials
The starting point was the exploration of materials: stone, paper, thread, natural elements, and small supports stimulated curiosity and creativity. Each participant was able to touch, choose, and imagine, giving shape to their initial intuitions.
  • Projects
From idea to drawing: the young artists designed their own works, transforming personal thoughts and stories into sketches and drafts. A key moment for developing independence and expressive ability.
  • Construction
The most dynamic phase was the construction phase. Through balancing tests, assembly, and modifications, the works came to life step by step, in a continuous dialogue between imagination, material, and balance.
  • Finished Works
Finally, the creations: light, suspended, and moving sculptures, capable of telling stories, each with an evocative title to expand their meaning.

Included in the exhibition program of the Sirmione public art event Pietra&Co. 2026, in collaboration with the Consorzio Marmisti Bresciani, the workshop thus takes on an added value: the completed works are now ready to become part of the exhibition’s artistic journey, offering the young artists the unique opportunity to experience the entire artistic journey, from creation to direct interaction with the public.

The workshop proved to be a comprehensive educational and artistic experience, combining manual skills, collaboration, and imagination, allowing young people to experience all phases of the creative process: from the initial idea to the final realization.
