Tribute to Maria Callas

In the second year of celebrations La Divina emozione. Sirmione Callas 21 23, Sirmione becomes a real widespread stage in which the entire territory will be dotted with numerous shows to tell Maria Callas around the hundred years after her birth.

At the center of the program is Omaggio a Maria Callas: seven musical events to tell the Divina not only as an extraordinary opera singer but also as a woman in her private dimension and in relations with the art and culture of her time.

During the 7 appointments, the figure of Maria will be told from several points of view.
In addition to the figure of a singer, the link with the world of cinema and with intellectuals such as Pierpaolo Pasolini, Luchino Visconti, Federico Fellini and Franco Zeffirelli will be retraced.
Omaggio a Maria Callas, thanks to two pop music proposals, is also aimed at an audience of pop music lovers in general. A concert will be dedicated to American music between 1920 and 1940, the period of Maria’s youth, and another evening will be dedicated to Italian popular music of the years between 1950 and 1960, a period in which Maria in Italy becomes an opera diva and in where the major icons of Italian song are born.

Michele Nocera will be the main protagonist of Vi racconto Maria: an in-depth look at the singer’s private dimension seen up close also through the objects that belonged to her.

The collaboration with the Concorso Internazionale Mario Orlandoni di Como is renewed. Three young singers selected for the competition will have the opportunity to perform with an orchestra on an exceptional stage such as Sirmione. For all concerts: free admission and reservations required.
