So we could turn to the great black poplar that has been fighting with the Ander and the Ora for almost a hundred years in the Belvedere Pertini, right where the Sirmione strip of land becomes thin. As recommended by forestry doctor Emanuela Lombardi, major pruning work must be planned to secure our giant which, with a height of 26 meters and a crown of 23, could find itself in difficulty in the face of particularly violent gusts.
A maintenance intervention will start on Tuesday 11 September and will last a few days. After an analysis of the state of the trunk, a free climber inside the crown and other operators on a platform will lighten the structure of the great old man, which will then be able to continue to act as a guardian of the two shores of the lake, to host nests, to rustle to the music of the waves.
