The Church of San Francesco in Colombare stands as an eminently conciliar architecture, since it follows the directives of Vatican II on sacred buildings.
Conceived as a tent-shaped volume, referring to the “tent in the desert” and “to the Church on the way”, it stands in an elevated position with respect to the street level.
The living stone of the walls, interrupted by colored windows, is also visible inside where the semicircular assembly and the sloping floor converge towards the altar, consisting of a millstone and illuminated from above by a blade of light , which underlines the centrality of the Eucharistic table.
