The Museum of Modern Art opened in November 1929 with its first exhibition, Cézanne, Gauguin, Seurat, Van Gogh.
Since then, the Museum has presented more than 3,500 exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, architecture and design, photography, films, performances and new media.
The Museum of Modern Art (also known as MoMA) is located in Midtown Manhattan, New York, on 53rd Street, between 5th and 6th Avenue.
It has had an extraordinary importance for the development of modern art and has often been considered the world’s leading modern museum.

The museum’s collection offers an incomparable overview of modern and contemporary art worldwide, as it hosts architectural projects and design objects, drawings, paintings, sculptures, photographs, serigraphs, illustrations, films and multimedia works of art.

The library and archives of MoMA collect more than 300,000 books and periodicals, in addition to the personal files of more than 70,000 artists.
