Going to the library and being able to read a large number of Italian and international newspapers and magazines: today it is possible thanks to the online consultation service of the “Mario Ferrari” Municipal Library of Sirmione.

Some latest generation tablets allow users to read newspapers and magazines through MLOL, the Medialibrary Online, the first Italian network of public libraries for digital lending. Librarians are available to provide information to all those who wish to enter an entire world of information easily, immediately and free of charge.

The platform includes thousands of newspapers and periodicals from all over the world, including the main Italian newspapers and magazines. Medialibrary is the most important digital lending platform in Italy, available in over 7,000 libraries and in twelve different countries around the world.

This new service further expands the already rich offer of the Sirmione Municipal Library and underlines its contemporary spirit: not only a book container but also a meeting place, social condenser and information laboratory. A space to meet people, read a book or a newspaper, attend a conference, a concert, attend a training course. There are numerous courses organized; including yoga, journalism and literacy and just as many cultural meetings with authors, journalists, personalities from society and entertainment.

The Municipal Library of Sirmione has an important book heritage and, through the Bresciana and Cremonese Library Network, makes available all the books of the provinces of Brescia and Cremona. The library also offers its readers assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, thanks to tools such as the Book Drop (the external box for returns) and the Book Locker (the cabinet where it is possible to withdraw reserved titles), which extend the service beyond the opening hours of the library. To these is added Bookcrossing: a real “emergency room” for the reader, where it is possible to freely leave and take books that one wishes to read and share. And those who love reading and sharing can also find excellent opportunities to meet and discuss in the many reading groups that gather in the Sirmione Book Club.
