The interview with Andréa Holzerr of Magnum Photos and the awarding of the Grifone of Sirmione

Sirmione celebrates photography and those who have contributed to making it an integral part of its cultural identity, awarding Andréa Holzherr, Global Cultural Director of Magnum Photos, the Grifone di Sirmione, an award that rewards her extraordinary commitment to bringing great photographers and top-level projects to the city.

The honor was personally presented by the mayor of Sirmione, Luisa Lavelli, during the inauguration of DOGDOGS, the photography exhibition by Elliott Erwitt at Palazzo Callas Exhibitions, with a title that expresses the gratitude of the Municipality of Sirmione towards the director of Magnum Photos:

To accompany the honor, a beautiful and in-depth interview collected by Giorgio Mora for Il Gazzettino nuovo on the present and future of photographic art. During the interview, Andréa Holzherr expressed her appreciation for the recognition received:

“[…] The Municipality has rewarded me as a citizen of Sirmione and of the world of photography. Very beautiful words, which made me happy. We at Magnum created the first exhibition in Sirmione in 2017, then we gave life – in collaboration with the culture office – to other exhibitions, shows, events and conferences. The friendship and collaboration inherent to the world of photography and everything that revolves around this sector has grown […]”.
