Around 400 episodes produced, distributed in more than 180 countries, a global success that has made Peppa Pig one of the most loved cartoons, dedicated to children but also appreciated by adults. Producer Phil Davies will talk about the creative process behind a successful production.

Peppa Pig is an animated television series for pre-school children produced by the animation studio Astley Baker Davies, which first aired in 2004. The series has won numerous awards including the BAFTA (British Academy Film Awards) in 2005, 2011 and 2012, the British Animation Awards in 2006, the TV Crystal award at the Annecy Film Festival, won 3 awards at Cartoons on the bay and was nominated 18 times overall for the Children’s BAFTAs. The series has spawned an extensive licensing programme, there are over 80 licensed producers in the UK including a theme park and a touring theater show. It is currently the number one pre-school brand in the UK with major launch programs in the US, China and South America.

Phil Davies has been producing television and animation programs since the early 1980s. He has won 6 BAFTAs and his films have received many other awards around the world, including an Emmy Award in 2013. In the 1980s, he produced several groundbreaking films, some of them for MTV. In the 1990s he produced short films and collaborated extensively with him for Channel 4. He served on the professional advisory board of the National Film and TV School and regularly supports films produced at the Royal College of Art in London. In 2016 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Middlesex University and is a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. He continues to executive produce animated shorts, as well as develop a number of live action projects and children’s series. He has produced two award-winning children’s animated series: Peppa Pig and Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom.
