On May 24th, 1883, about 13 years after the foundation stone was laid, it was the day of the grand inauguration of the Brooklyn Bridge, the most famous bridge in the world.
The inauguration was chaired by US President Chester A. Arthur and then-New York Governor Grover Cleveland.
Brooklyn was the first steel bridge and has long been the largest suspension bridge in the world. The video below shows us the wonderful panorama seen from the bridge which, crossing the East River, connects between them the island of Manhattan and the Brooklyn neighborhood in New York.
