1926-2026 Centenary of the Monte Suello Section of the National Alpine Association
The traveling flag meets the Sirmione Group

The “Monte Suello” Section of Salò is celebrating its first 100 years of Alpine history with a long tour of its Flag, which will visit all 57 groups in the area. The Sirmione Alpine Group will be present on May 12 and 13, 2026, with two solemn events:
-
Ceremony at the Monument to the Alpine Brigades
The Flag will arrive at 6:45 PM on Tuesday, May 12, at the Monument to the Alpine Brigades at Via Mantegna, 63. The ceremony will begin at 7:00 PM with the blessing of the laurel wreath, followed by the placing at the monument in honor of the fallen.
The central moment will be the official delivery of the Flag and the Golden Album to the Sirmione Group, with a greeting from the group leader, an explanation of the medals attached to the flag, and a message from the section president. The centenary book will also be presented.
The flag-lowering ceremony will conclude, accompanied by the Town Band. A Holy Mass will follow in the square to commemorate the group leaders and the Alpine troops who “went ahead.”
-
Parade and Mass at San Pietro in Mavino
On Thursday, May 13, the celebrations move to the historic heart of Sirmione. At 10:00 a.m., the gathering will take place in front of the Castle, from where a parade will begin through the streets of the village, accompanied by the Town Band, to the church of San Pietro in Mavino. At 10:45 a.m., the flag will be raised, and a golden wreath will be laid at the Bell of the Fallen monument. Holy Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m.
For those unable to attend the ceremonies, the flag will remain on display at the headquarters of the Sirmione Alpine Group (Via Mantegna, 63) for the entire day of Friday, May 14th, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
