Lake Garda PDO products
The extraordinary landscape and microclimate of the Garda area are the secret to why the DOP products of Lake Garda have such unique aromas and flavours.
Garda PDO olive oil is made by pressing the olives that have been growing all around the lake since ancient times, making it the northernmost area in the world where they are grown. The same applies for the lemons of Lake Garda, from which a pleasant limoncello is made.
Lavender is grown on the hills around the lake and is used as an ingredient in essential oils and cosmetics. The town of Pozzolengo is the birthplace of the saffron “Zafferano di Pozzolengo” and the salami “Salame di Pozzolengo”.
The highlight of PDO wine production is the white Lugana wine, named after the Lugana neighbourhood in Sirmione.
