Where is the crocodile going?

In the moat of the Scaligero Castle, contemporary art takes shape and surprises

Published on : 28 May 2025

The moat of the Scaligero Castle in Sirmione welcomes a new tenant… truly special! This is the first of the works that are making up Pietra&Co.2025, the artistic itinerary spread between Punta Grò and the Grotte di Catullo.

The installation entitled “Colui che unisce (He who unites)” by the artistic collective Cracking Art fits into the landscape like an archaic and powerful symbol. Inspired by the figure of the Nile crocodile, the work represents the regenerative force of nature and the protection of water. But here, in the medieval setting of the castle, the crocodile takes on a new meaning: not as a threat, but as a bridge. Between water and stone. Between ancient and contemporary. Between visible and invisible.

Created in collaboration with the Consorzio Marmisti Bresciani, the contemporary art exhibition will intertwine art and territory through sculptures, installations, photography, video art, performances and events that will liven up Sirmione throughout the summer.

A scenographic start to an artistic journey that invites us to look at what surrounds us with new eyes. And to ask ourselves, precisely: where is the crocodile going?
