A new service for readers outside the Library
A new service enriches the external spaces of the Sirmione Library, it is the Bookcrossing: a space where everyone is free to bring and take books they want to read and share.
The idea of the meeting between books and readers was born on the web in 2001 with the bookcrossing.com site which aims to spread the love for reading and “transform the whole world into a library”. Today the term “bookcrossing “describes in general any free book exchange and distribution service that aims to promote the reading, sharing and free circulation of ideas.
The Bookcrossing service of the Municipal Library, a real “first aid for the reader”, is added to the Book Drop: the external box for returns and the Book Locker: the locker where it is possible to independently collect the reserved titles. These tools extend the service of the Library beyond the closing hours, guaranteeing assistance to the reader 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
