Sirmione hosts the IREA-CNR Conference: focus on environment, technology, health and scientific communication
Science and territory meet at the Palazzo dei Congressi
From 9 to 11 April 2025, Sirmione will host the fifth edition of the National Conference of the Institute for Electromagnetic Sensing of the Environment (IREA), part of the National Research Council (CNR), the largest Italian public body dedicated to scientific and technological research, at the Palazzo dei Congressi.
The biennial workshop represents an important moment of internal discussion and dialogue with society, offering a space for discussion on the scientific activities of the Institute and on the strategic challenges for the future. IREA carries out applied research in fundamental areas such as environment, territory, safety, health and healthcare, with operational offices in Naples, Milan, Bari and with the “Eugenio Zilioli” Experimental Station in Sirmione, a point of reference for the study of the waters of Lake Garda and for environmental education.
The conference program will open on April 9th at 2:00 pm with institutional greetings and the Director’s introduction, and will then continue with the Panel “Science and Society” which will see the participation of Bruna De Marchi, sociologist of risk communication at the University of Bergen.
In the following days, there will be alternating interventions by international experts such as Mirco Migliavacca (JRC – Bioeconomy and Forest Unit) and Gabriella Costa (ESA – IRIDE Project Manager), in a series of panels dedicated to the environment, risks and health, which will culminate in the visit to the Zilioli Station and in the final session on April 11th.
