Murder in the Museum! Who dunnit?
An evening of suspenseful short stories where the audience becomes the detective – come listen, guess the murderer, and vote for your favorite!
Get ready for a thrilling evening of mystery, creativity, and storytelling at our next English Café! On Thursday, June 12th at 8:00 PM, we’ll be meeting in a truly fitting location for the occasion – Palazzo Callas Exhibitions – for a special event themed “Murder in the Museum”.
This time, the spotlight is on anyone who’d like to take part – whether you’re a regular or joining us for the first time! We invite you to participate in a unique Short Story Competition, where each tale will revolve around a murder mystery set in a museum. As the stories unfold, the audience will try to guess who the murderer is.
Short Story Competition – Guidelines:
- Each story must have a title
- Maximum 700 words
- Bring a printed copy of the story
- Include the author’s name on the back of the printed copy
- Also write the name of the murderer on the back
A selection of stories will be read aloud during the evening, and the audience will vote for their favorites. Prizes will be awarded to the top two stories.
You don’t need to write a story to take part! Come along, enjoy the readings, immerse yourself in the mystery, and vote for the most captivating tale.
Bonus: During the evening, you’ll also have the chance to visit the DOGDOGS photography exhibition by Elliott Erwitt, currently on display at Palazzo Callas. We look forward to seeing you there for this special night of imagination and intrigue!

Our English reading group features monthly encounters, organized as follows:
- The Sirmione Book Club English, on uneven months in the Municipal Library, with books proposed by the coordinators Rosemary Williamson, Rosalind Rabbitt and Ann Davies
- The English Cafè, on even months, where to more freely talk about books we’d like to read, share, propose. The English Cafè, as the name suggests, will not take place in the Public Library, but in a more informal venue, namely a pub, bar or vinery in Sirmione. The designated place will be announced each time.
Even if you didn’t attend the previous meetings, you can step in any time you want… by the way, the book we are reading for the Sirmione Book Club English and that will be discussed on the new season of the club starting in September 2025 is The Lady in the Van by Alan Bennett.
