He was bred in Ireland as a working hunting dog.<\/p>\n<p>The breed comes from the <strong>Irish Red-White Setter<\/strong> and an unknown dog with a single-color coat. The type was established in the 18th century.<br \/>\nIn 1882, the &#8220;<strong>Irish Setter&#8221; Club<\/strong>&#8221; was founded to promote the breed, which published the Standard in 1886 and organized working trials and exhibitions to apply the breed Standard ever since.<\/p>\n<p>In 1998 the Club also published the Working Standard and, the two Standards together reveal the description of the physical appearance and working ability of the breed.
