Sirmione celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Maria Callas<\/strong>\u00a0with a very rich new season of the Sirmione Callas 21-23<\/strong> project dedicated to music, theatre, art and culture, in 150\u00a0appointments<\/strong> scheduled throughout the territory.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Exceptional protagonists, among others, will be Giuseppe Gibboni<\/strong>, the very young and talented violinist who won the Paganini prize, Cristina de Middel<\/strong>, internationally renowned photographer and president of Magnum Photos and the prestigious string quintet of the Berliner Philarmoniker<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span> At the center of course the initiatives for the centenary of the birth of Maria Callas, interpreted in a contemporary key to bring her back to life and symbolically meet in the places she loved most.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The musical encounters will open with the concerts and meetings of the XXIII edition of the Homage to Maria Callas<\/strong>, 12 appointments from opera to jazz.<\/span><\/span> Great emotions promises the opening concert<\/strong> at the Grotte di Catullo in which, in addition to three great singers, we will have the privilege of meeting the unforgettable diva Raina Kabaivanska<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span> The Grotte di Catullo will also host the theatrical show by and with Lucilla Giagnoni<\/strong> committed to proposing her version of the Medea that Pier Paolo Pasolini wanted to entrust to Maria Callas.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Also this year, the international puppet theater<\/strong> review proposed by the Corniani Theater Center is dedicated to the younger ones, but not only, starting in the month of July.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
