The best known and most iconic beach of Sirmione<\/strong>, Jamaica beach<\/strong>, obtained the 2023 Blue Flag<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span>
\nThe prestigious international environmental award was presented this morning (May 12) to Mayor Luisa Lavelli<\/strong> at the Italian headquarters of the FEE, Foundation for Environmental Education<\/a><\/strong> in Rome.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The award is given to seaside and lakeside resorts that meet specific and rigorous water and beach quality criteria and implement virtuous sustainable land management practices.<\/span><\/span>
\nThis recognition, also obtained thanks to the coordination of Luca Fila and the support of the Comunit\u00e0 del Garda<\/strong>, represents an important element of the tourist offer for Sirmione<\/strong>: it is a quality certificate which certifies the community’s commitment in the management of the coast and beaches in the<\/span><\/span> respect for the environment and nature.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Blue Flag<\/a><\/strong> award is conferred by the FEE, Foundation for Environmental Education<\/a><\/strong>, an international organization recognized by UNESCO as a world leader in the field of environmental education and sustainable development and is awarded every year in 49 different countries around the world.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The main objective of the program\u00a0is to promote sustainable management of the territory<\/strong> in the coastal municipalities\u00a0through a series of indications that place attention and care for the environment<\/strong> at the basis of political choices.<\/span><\/span>
\nFor the purposes of the evaluation, the quality of the bathing water<\/strong> is the primary criterion: only the localities whose waters are found to be excellent can submit their candidacy.<\/span><\/span> Other significant areas of evaluation include environmental education, waste management, vehicular traffic regulation, safety and beach services.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
