Fake news and misinformation<\/strong>\u00a0manipulated deliberately for the purpose of deceiving people, has become an increasingly evident phenomenon globally.<\/p>\n

Social media, with their personalization tools, have made it easier to spread false stories and often leverage emotions to attract attention and generate clicks, for economic or ideological purposes.<\/p>\n

Even young people with digital skills find it difficult to identify the news that has been manipulated.<\/p>\n

Significantly, out of ten news items shared on social media, six are not even read by the user before being shared.<\/p>\n

Around 85% of Europeans believe that fake news is a problem in their country and 83% believe that it is a problem for democracy in general<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
